Major rally floods Chicago with nursing home supporters

Nearly one thousand nursing home staff and supporters rallied outside the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago Monday in an effort to restore cuts in Medicaid funding and avert new cuts for essential medical services for nursing home residents across Illinois. Speakers urged state legislators and Governor Quinn to oppose any further cuts in funding or care for elderly nursing home residents.
"We're here to raise our voices for our wonderful nursing home families," Pat Comstock, Executive Director of Health Care Council of Illinois (HCCI), told the crowd. "We want to let Governor Quinn and state legislators and everyone know that we cannot continue to balance the budget on the backs of our most vulnerable citizens." Read more on our Blog. |
