Making a Difference
The proposed budget cuts of at least 6 percent put health care services for seniors at risk, increasing their hospitalizations, and sending fewer seniors back to their homes in the community.
The proposed cuts mean the loss of $70 million in federal matching funds. The resulting loss of senior care jobs will jeopardize the safety reforms the legislature passed just last year.
The cuts mean the loss of 7,000 senior care jobs at a time when the state’s economy is still recovering from the recession. An additional 11,000 jobs will be lost in the larger supply economy.
