Seniors, staff push for nursing home Bill of Rights
Statewide tour calls attention to need for resident-driven care
WHO: The Health Care Council of Illinois (HCCI) will be joined by local community leaders, nursing home residents, family and staff from (NAME) nursing home.
WHAT: The event will call attention to the potential pitfalls for Medicaid managed care and to push for a Nursing Home Residents Managed Care Bill of Rights that would focus on the best interest of nursing home residents when it comes to the quality of care offered by managed care organizations.

WHY: HCCI is traveling around Illinois, making multiple stops to raise awareness about the threat to the health of nursing home residents under the new Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative (MMAI) and the Integrated Care Program (ICP). The group is supporting SB 3450, which would provide a variety of protections and ensure basic rights for nursing home residents. It would include the right to continuity of care and consistent delivery of services while also providing a clear and uncomplicated appeals process.
